Support
Through the Chapter's Board, committees, local programs and staff, you will have a wide range of support available to you as a professional social worker.

 

Networking/Programs
NASW offer members a chance to stay connected with the social work profession through monthly branch meetings in eight  communities, on-going continuing  education and an annual conference, as well as a bi-monthly Alaska Chapter newsletter, website, blog and volunteer opportunities.

 

Discounted Services
As a member of NASW, you receive other services provided by the Chapter at a lower cost than is otherwise charged for workshops, Annual Conference, insurance, etc. You also receive discounts with credit cards and travel. Advocacy
At the national and state level, your professional interests as a social worker are represented as a social worker by NASW at no additional cost to you.

NASW offers many professional credentials, including:

  • ACSW - Academy of Certified Social Workers
  • DCSW -    Diplomate in Clinical Social Work
  • QCSW - Qualified Clinical Social Worker
  • SSWS - School Social Work Specialist
  • ATODC - Alcohol, Tobacco and Other Drug Certification
  • CASWCM - Certified Advanced Social Work Case Manager

Publications
The NASW Alaska Chapter News is mailed to members on a bi-monthly basis, as a benefit of membership. Members also receive ten issues of the nationally produced NASW News and four issues of the profession’s premiere journal Social Work. Members are also entitled to receive discounts on NASW’s four specialty journals, Health & Social Work, Social Work in Education, Social Work Research and Social Work Abstracts. Professional Malpractice Insurance
The NASW Insurance Trust is one of the most valuable benefits to members, connecting eligible social workers to malpractice insurance with low rates and dependable coverage. The rates below are effective October 1, 2015. Recent graduates who join as students receive discounted rates.

 

Full members

  • MSW Full Membership Dues Annually:  $225
  • DSW Full Membership Dues Annually:  $225
  • BSW Full Membership Dues Annually:  $150​​

Student Members

  • BSW Student Membership Dues Annually:  $57​
  • MSW Student Membership Dues Annually:  $57
  • Doctoral Student (in a Social Work/Social Welfare Program) 
    Membership Dues Annually:  $170\

Transitional Members

  • BSW Transitional Dues (2 years):  $110
  • MSW Transitional Dues (First 2 years):  $110, (Third Year):  $170

Associate Members

  • Associate Membership Dues Annually (non-degreed social workers):  $225

Retired Members

  • Retired Membership Dues Annually:  $70
