NASW-Minnesota Chapter - Executive Director

 

The Minnesota Chapter of the National Association of Social Workers (NASW), with a statewide membership of nearly 2,000, is seeking an Executive Director with demonstrated leadership and management skills. Applicants should have a substantial knowledge of and a strong commitment to the social work profession and social work values, with an awareness of the diversity of social work practice.  Applicants should also be able to engage, inspire, and mobilize the Association’s membership.  NASW is the largest membership organization of professional social workers in the world, with 120,000 members nationwide. NASW works to enhance the professional growth and development of its members, to create and maintain professional standards, and to advance sound and just social policies. The Chapter Executive Director reports to the NASW Deputy Director of Chapter Operations at the National Office and is accountable to the Minnesota Chapter Board of Directors.

Position requires:

  • Senior leadership experience working with professional or non-profit organizations and their volunteer Boards
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of executive leadership experience
  • College degree required; MSW preferred
  • Exceptional executive management skills, including the ability to provide oversight for organizational and leadership development priorities, relevant legislative efforts, membership services, staff supervision and continuing education programs
  • Demonstrated budget and financial management skills
  • Ability to manage administrative tasks with the NASW National Office
  • Solid program planning and implementation skills
  • Strong public policy experience and skills
  • Strong advocacy and legislative experience and skills
  • Community organizing experience
  • Exceptional written and oral communications skills
  • Experience working with traditional media
  • Proficiency in leveraging social media
  • Commitment to providing excellent membership support and engagement
  • Basic proficiency with Office products software, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint, as well as working in the online/“cloud” environment.

NASW - New Jersey Chapter, Executive Director

 

NASW is seeking an Executive Director for the New Jersey Chapter with demonstrated leadership and association management skills. Applicants should also be able to engage, inspire, and mobilize the Association’s membership.

NASW works to enhance the professional growth and development of its members, to create and maintain professional standards, and to advance sound social policies. The Chapter Executive Director reports to the NASW Deputy Director of Chapter Operations at the National Office and is accountable to the New Jersey Chapter Board of Directors.

 

Position requires:

  • Senior leadership experience working with a professional association or non-profit organizations and their volunteer Boards to ensure that the mission is fulfilled through programs, strategic planning and community outreach
  • Minimum of 5 years of executive level management and leadership experience
  • College degree required; MSW preferred
  • Transparent and high integrity leadership, incumbent will maintain effective internal and external relationships through management, leadership, and communication to achieve economical, productive performance, forward-looking programming, and constructive growth of the Chapter
  • Strong executive level management skills, including the ability to provide oversight for organizational and leadership development priorities, relevant legislative efforts, membership services, and continuing education programs
  • Previous supervisory experience, including the ability to lead, nurture and develop staff members
  • Experience maintaining professional relationship with volunteers
  • Strong budget and financial management skills
  • Strong program innovation, planning and implementation skills
  • Experience in public policy advocacy at legislature and regulatory agencies
  • Community organizing experience
  • Exceptional written and oral communications skills
  • Experience working with and leveraging traditional and social media
  • Ability to articulate and represent New Jersey social workers’ values, perspectives and needs to community organizations and policy-making bodies
  • A track history of involvement in fighting oppression and advancing causes of our diverse communities

  • Ability to generate non-dues revenue such as annual conference, continuing education, and grant-writing

The Chapter office is located in North Brunswick; travel is required to other New Jersey communities, as needed. Generous compensation and benefit package including health, dental, disability and life insurance, and a 401k retirement program. The salary range is $100-110k.
